Who Am I?
Polarization is the name of the game these days. Divide and conquer is a tactic that has been used historically to maintain power. 2020 is no different than any other time in this way…with the exception of the fact that we are bound closer than ever as a world community because of the internet.
So who am I? My name is Kymberly Redmond and I’m 50 years old. Sheesh, that sounds ancient. But hey, it happens to everyone.
By nature I’m pretty introverted…so for most of my life, I’ve remained behind the scenes, preferring to let others get in front of the camera. There’s something about drawing attention to myself that’s always been awkward.
To give you an idea – my best friend when I was 4 was a tree. Hey, they are great listeners and always keep your secrets. That really hasn’t changed over the years. Hiking is one of those things that connects me back into the source of all that’s good. It’s a reminder of the duality of how powerful we are and how insignificant we can be in the same breath.
Over the past 10 years, I have been earning my living as a marketer. Prior to that, I worked in law and restaurants….so it’s been a colourful existence thus far.
The reason I decided to break out of my comfort zone is because of the events I watched unfold after the 2016 election. Actually, if I am 100% honest this was just the catalyst….I’ve been aware of the negative trajectory since September 11th, 2001.
Life as I knew it from birth to the ’90s radically changed post 911. Not just for me but for the world. The safety I once felt was yanked away and I was forced to look at everything I thought I knew through a different lens.
From the nonstop wars to the erosion of civil liberties those planes left an indelible mark on millions of people globally…especially for those of you that barely remember a time before this tragic event.
Nearly 20 years later – we have treasures like the Patriot Act, the NSA, Fake News (both government and social media-driven), Pandemics, Invasive Social Media and a partisan chasm a mile wide and 100 deep…
…and all of this created a smoldering cauldron of spitting hot anger.
So most of us take one of two tactics. Get down in the mud and sling more than you get slapped with…or stay the fuck out of the mess.
For the most part, people with common sense stay the hell out of it. Keeping their opinions to themselves for fear of retribution.
In cancel culture, those penalties can be high. Losing friends, your job and being tarnished with monickers you may, or more likely than not, may not deserve seems like a high price to pay for expressing yourself.
The thing is…if the moderate majority doesn’t stand up in the age of insanity then we run the risk of truly becoming the barbarians that people often site when insulting others. Turning a blind eye makes us complicit in some way with the chaos.
Which brings me back to why I’m here. I have decided to stop talking to trees about the ills of the world…and instead build a community of people who see the value of TRUE diversity, REAL debate and the value of using one’s intuition to navigate a world filled with propaganda, censorship, and anger.
One of my most closely guarded secrets in life is something I’m revealing today. I grew up with a generational gift of intuition. Some call it psychic abilities, but I prefer not to use that description because I believe all people can tap into this powerful tool. Unfortunately, we unlearned it along the way in a culture that is not kind to people who are different or rock the boat. Let’s face it – homogenous people are a lot easier to deal with.
To give you some insight, my first premonition happened in 1986. I had a dream that the Space Shuttle was going to explode. I told my mom who noticed I had a high temperature and told me to stay home. As I watched TV from the couch my dream unfolded and the Challenger exploded. It was really scary. That’s when my mom said it runs in our family and I shouldn’t tell anyone…because people judge.
Anyway since then, my intuition has been part of my daily life. I have learned to incorporate it and now it’s one of my biggest strengths. It allows me to sense BS a mile away and I rely on my 6th sense to help guide me when my eyes and ears fail me.
With the way things are going, I feel these skills will be the key to pulling the truth out no matter what the source.
